a day at the ballet

The Kremlin Ballet performed Tschiakovsky's Sleeping Beauty, and I got to see it. A Russian ballet with Russian music performed by a Russian dance company. It was amazing. OBVI.

Just walking around Red Square today made me feel a bit better about being in Moscow. This country is full of such rich culture. I don't think I have really allowed myself to appreciate it yet. I got so caught up in ME! ME! ME! problems that I didn't take the time to realize that this place is pretty awesome. It's different, and it'll take some more getting used to. But I don't know, I kinda like it :)

PS I saw these people on the way to McDonald's (Yes, McDonald's. I usually don't eat there when I'm hmoe, but since I got to Russia McDonald's has been my savior. It's cheap, and the workers usually speak English. What more could I ask for?). As soon as I heard the song, I had to sing along. I go to the Festival of Colors every year at the Hindi temple in Spanish Fork, Utah, and we sing this exact chant all day long. It may be a completely different culture, but it feels like a little bit of home :)

[I have a video, but Blogspot won't let me upload it. So I guess this picture will have to do...]
